EXPERIENCE

Steven Pratapas, President of the Firm, is a seasoned executive with over 35 years Steve Pratapas
experience as a resource development professional leading not-for-profit organizations.  Prior to starting his fundraising consulting firm, Steve served 16 years as President & CEO of the Greater Illinois Chapter - National Multiple Sclerosis Society.  Under his leadership, the organization’s annual revenues grew from $1.4 M to over $9.0 M.  Prior to the MS Society, Steve served six years as Executive Director of the Valentine Boys and Girls Club of Chicago followed by four years as Chief Development Officer for all the Boys and Girls Club of Chicago.

Steve has cultivated six and seven-figure major gifts, and has established and leveraged an extensive network of relationships in the corporate, foundation and entertainment industry.  He has successfully recruited and enlisted top corporate leaders to provide leadership and support to the numerous charitable agencies and boards he works with. 

He is a visionary and strategic leader with proven ability to quickly assess organizational needs, significantly grow revenue streams while managing expenses, and building strong boards, and volunteer committees and executive staff teams.  As a recognized leader in the profession, he frequently presents on topics of board and volunteer leadership development and major fundraising campaigns at conferences and meetings. He has also authored articles on both subjects.

Steve launched
Pratapas Associates, LLC in 2002 and quickly earned recognition and respect from his clients while applying both his real life experiences and knowledge of fundraising campaigns and board development programs.
He is a member of the Association of Consultants to Non-Profits; Association of Fundraising Professionals; the Fox West, West Suburban, and South West Suburban Philanthropic Networks; Lewis University Council of Regents. Naperville Rotary Sunrise Board and other community organizations. He received his B.S. in Business from Lewis University.

Pratapas Associates, LLC has a number of professional associates available to help address the unique needs of our clients.  The Pratapas Associates team includes:

Mary Chicoine has over 25 years resource development experience in all areas of fundraising, campaign development, strategic planning, and integrated marketing.  She received a B.S. from Loyola University and an M.S.A.  in Non Profit Management from the University of Notre Dame.  Mary is also a Certified Coach in life, executive, leadership, and professional coaching.
  

Michael Pratapas has over 15 years of resource development experience in major capital campaigns, major gift cultivation, and Board and staff development at the University setting and national not-for-profit organizations.  He received a BA in Psychology and a M.A. in Education from Wake Forest University.
 
Sue Weibel associate since 2003, assisting with Capital Campaign Feasibility and Capacity Building Studies, data base management and prospect research, campaign marketing material development, building/managing on-line surveys, and client billing. Prior to joining the firm, Sue spent 10 years at Lee Hecht Harrison in administration and client services. Sue has a B.A. in Economics from University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.

Lacy Antonson associate since 2011, assists with Capital Campaign Feasibility and Capacity Building Studies. Prior to joining the firm, Lacy spent over 15 years with not-for-profits, working and volunteering in administrative, fund raising, and direct service positions. She received her B.A. in Psychology from Northern Illinois University and a M.S.W. in Social Work Administration, Policy, and Organization from University of Illinois, Chicago.
